A Living Bridge to
Ancient Egypt

Since 1921, Old Shop Egypt has carried the spirit of ancient Egypt through bespoke jewellery and sacred sculpture. Founded by a Greek owner and bought by Mohamed's father after 1952 — who opened the first Old Shop in Aswan — the craft passed down through the family.

Today Mohamed keeps it alive from his workshop in Luxor, one of the last traditional sculptors working in the spirit and style of the ancient Pharaohs.

“Not simply jewellery — a living bridge between ancient Egypt and the modern world.”

Close-up of the raw green Libyan Desert Crystal

The Process

Crafted with Intention

01
The Stone

A rare shard of Libyan Desert Crystal is chosen and left in its raw, natural form — exactly as the desert made it.

02
The Silver

Mohamed hand-forms the sterling silver bezel and chain in his Luxor workshop, the way it has been done for generations.

03
The Lioness

The face of Sekhmet — the lioness, in Egyptian myth the Powerful One, guardian of the throne — is set to hang beneath the crystal.

04
To Your Door

Each talisman takes about three days. Wrapped with care and shipped free, worldwide, from Luxor.

The Materials

Every Stone Tells a Story

Libyan Desert Crystal

Rare pale-green glass formed 26 million years ago when a meteorite fused the Sahara sand. The same stone was carved as a scarab in Tutankhamun's breastplate. Left raw and natural.

Sekhmet, in Silver

Beneath the crystal hangs the face of Sekhmet — the lioness, in Egyptian myth the Powerful One, guardian of the throne. A quiet symbol of strength and sovereignty.

Sterling Silver

A hand-formed sterling silver bezel and chain cradle the stone — shaped entirely by hand in Mohamed's Luxor workshop, no two pieces ever identical.
